Chicago 2016 names winners of the "Why Chicago” video contest

A panel of judges selected the top five videos based on a combination of popular vote, originality, creativity, relevance to the "Why Chicago" theme, and production quality. During the final online voting round, the public was invited to visit the Web site to choose who they thought created the best "Why Chicago" video. The five finalists' videos were featured each morning last week on NBC 5 News Today, and the grand prize winners were announced live this morning.
The grand prize winners of the "Why Chicago" video contest are Chris Davis and Jamie McArthur for their winning video, "Why Chicago." The grand prize is a trip for two to Vancouver for a behind-the-scenes tour of the preparations for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Davis and McArthur are juniors at Loyola University Chicago majoring in International Film and Media Studies. They are originally from Medina, OH.
The second place winner is "Chicago = Awesome" submitted by Dan Lamoureux. For his video, Lamoureux won $5,000 worth of video production equipment of his choice. Lamoureux is originally from the South Side of Chicago and currently resides in Thornton, IL.
"Both of the winners did an extraordinary job highlighting Chicago's positive attributes in very creative and interesting ways," said Patrick G. Ryan. "Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to everyone who participated in the "Why Chicago" video contest."
In addition to awarding prizes for videos entered into the contest, Chicago 2016 also awarded a prize to one voter chosen at random. Manuela Molina, from Luling, TX, won an Olympic Experience trip for six to the United States Olympic Committee's (USOC) headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO, to tour the world-class training facilities, watch Olympians and Olympic hopefuls train and participate in a U.S. Olympic sport experience.
