Norway beats Germany in biathlon mixed relay

KONTIOLAHTI, Finland (AP) Favorites Norway and Germany have dominated the first of the season's two mixed relays in biathlon World Cup.

Norway's quartet of Ann-Kristin Aafedt Flatland, Olympic champion Tora Berger, Halvard Hanevold and Tarjei Boe finished in 1 hour, 14 minutes and 55 seconds.

The German team of Kati Wilhelm, double Olympic gold medalist Magdalena Neuner, Erik Lesser and Simon Schempp was 5.4 seconds behind. Italy was third Friday, 35.6 seconds back.

In mixed relays, women cover 6 kilometers and the men 7.5-kilometers.

The season's remaining mixed relay is this month in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
