Fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, the American women led by Debbie McCormick (Madison, Wis.) trail China 4-2 after five ends of play. China took the lead with a draw for two points in the fourth end and capitalized on a miss by Allison Pottinger (Eden Prairie, Minn.), who is throwing last stones today and shooting just 48 percent, in the fifth to steal a point and increase the lead. The U.S. needs to win its last two games and get a little help from a few other teams in the win/loss column to jump into a tiebreaker situation.
