COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 15, 2009) - As 2009 draws to a close, USA Volleyball has announced its players and teams of the year.

For beach volleyball, April Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) was named Female Player of the Year. Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) was named Male Player of the Year and Jen Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and Ross were named Team of the Year.

For indoor volleyball, opposite Nancy Metcalf (Hull, Iowa) was named Female Player of the Year. Outside hitter Sean Rooney (Wheaton, Ill.) was named Male Player of the Year and the Boys' Youth National Team was named Team of the Year.

For sitting volleyball, Katie Holloway (Lake Stevens, Wash.) was named Female Player of the year. Eric Duda (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was named Male Player of the Year and the U.S. Women's Sitting Team was named Team of the Year.

Each selection has been nominated to the USOC for their respective category of SportsWoman, SportsMan or Sports Team of the Year.

USAV Announces High Performance Holiday Camp Rosters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 15, 2009) - A total of 123 athletes are scheduled to participate in the USA Volleyball High Performance Holiday Camps the last week of December. This year marks the eighth year the High Performance Department has held a holiday camp.

USA Volleyball Announces 2010 High Performance Girls' Tryout Schedule

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 15, 2009) - The USA Volleyball Indoor High Performance Department has announced its 2010 High Performance Girls' Tryout schedule with at least 34 tryouts spread across the country.

The High Performance tryout schedule starts on Feb. 12 with evaluations taking place in three different cities. The final tryout is schedule for April 29 in Kansas City, Mo.

2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships Info

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 15, 2009) - USA Volleyball has selected the Wildernesss at the Smokies Resort in Sevierville, Tenn., as the host site of its USA Volleyball High Performance Championships (HPC) set for July 27-30. Sevierville is 20 minutes southeast of Knoxville, Tenn.

A projected 98 teams will compete in six different age and gender championship brackets taking place on 16 courts inside the Sevierville Events Center adjoining the Wilderness at the Smokies Resort. The USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, which featured a tournament-record 92 teams in 2009, combines the best teams from USAV High Performance Pipeline teams, USAV Region High Performance Teams and international squads in the marquee event.
