Germans finish 1-2 in women's WC bobsled

LAKE PLACID, N.Y.(AP) Cathleen Martini won a World Cup women's bobsled race at Mount Van Hoevenberg, leading a 1-2 finish for the German team.

Martini and brakewoman Romy Logsch had a two-run combined time of 1 minute, 56.15 seconds on Saturday, besting teammate Sandra Kiriasis and brakewoman Janine Tischer by a commanding 0.41 seconds.

Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse of Canada were third, more than a second behind the winner and only 0.01 ahead of the German team of Claudia Schramm and Christin Senkel.

Shauna Rohbock and Elana Meyers were the top U.S. finishers in fifth, 0.07 behind the Canadian team. Americans Erin Pac and Michelle Rzepka were seventh and teammates Bree Schaaf and Emily Azevedo tied the Swiss sled of Sabina Hafner and Marina Gilardoni for ninth.
