Why is it some of the USA Gold metal winners do not respect their country when Our national anthem is played? No hand over heart, No eyes on the flag, No singing of our song, Does the USOC teach a class in this? |

They don't HAVE to, plus they are in the moment. There is probably so much emotion going on that they could probably forget. If you go to baseball, football, or any other sporting event you will find people and athletes alike not singing or putting their hand over their heart. How about you be grateful for the athletes getting GOLD for our country, the reason why the national anthem would be played. Plus I seen ALL the Gold ceremonies, and there was nothing I seen that seemed disrespectful. Everyone has different ways in showing respect, so do not criticize the athletes, they do a great job representing our country. |

My friends and I have been discussing the very same thing. Why don't they? While I agree that the athletes may be "in the moment" the fact is that they won gold for their country. Is it because they don't know the words? If that's the case, then place your hand over your heart and show some pride! |

In the moment or not...respect the Soldiers of this country who fight for our freedom everyday. They aren't out racing and then partying all night. They are on guard for our country 24/7. They are the true Heroes. It is great that our athletes are winning Gold Medals, but the WHOLE WORLD is watching so show some RESPECT and LOVE to your FLAG and your COUNTRY! Place your hand over your heart...is that too much to ask? |
