Athletes as Artists

It has been far, far too long since I've last blogged.  But it has been a wild and crazy summer to say the least.  Okay, maybe not exactly wild...or crazy.  But certainly BUSY.  Now that I have a few minutes to spare, a cup of coffee (or what my friends like to describe as a… Read More

The Bell Curve

In a discussion I recently had with an Olympian from the 2008 Beijing Games, we discussed the misconceptions behind the health of elite athletes.  Often times, Olympic athletes are viewed as the epitome of health and physical beauty.  Yet, my buddy contended that, in fact, the opposite is… Read More

Olympism in the Land of the Ancient Gods

The International Olympic Academy gave me the Olympic experience I didn't get in Beijing, but always imagined having if I made an Olympic team. Anthony Wright of Canada, 2008 Field Hockey Olympian (seated on the right) If you haven't seen me around the OTC for the past month,… Read More

Dancing with the Stars - Colorado Remix

One of my old pentathlon teammates, Eli Bremer came by my office a couple of months back with an usual request: to watch him dance. Now Eli tends to ask random questions, make bold proclamations, and casually drop quirky statements about sport and life (for example, he once told me he thought… Read More

Playoff Basketball + Triathletes = C …

Tonight pits a "win-or-chill-at-home" match up between two members of the 2008 Olympic "Redeem Team" - Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets and Kobe Bryant of the L.A. Lakers.  And I'm pumped.  I'm even selfish enough to miss the first part of my girlfriend's 30th birthday party to make… Read More

Quick Hits

The Dating Game Part of my job with the US Olympic Committee is to come up with creative ways to keep our resident athletes entertained.  Believe it or not, it isn't the easiest thing to do.  At times I feel like a campy YMCA counselor teaching arts and crafts, other times I feel… Read More

Defining Success

Two of my current favorite literary scribes covering the secular topics of sport and the American zeitgeist are ESPN's "Sports Guy" and pop-culture critic Chuck Klosterman.  Both write about sports from a fan's perspective, which I appreciate and can easily relate to.  Both are also… Read More

Blog Description

Blogger: Terris Tiller

My Dad likes to call me T-rific, but most people stop short and just call me T. I was once a resident athlete of the CS-OTC and now work for the Man (or in this case the woman - shout out to Stephanie Streeter!). As an athlete and USOC employee, I've seen or done it all, which is more or less what this blog is about - life at the Olympic Training Center.
