  • How you got into the sport: My father got me into recreational kayak by the age of 8 and I enjoyed absorbing the nature and tranquility of the water. By 13 I met my coach, Holm Schmidt, who opened my eyes to the sport of Flatwater Kayaking and I was hooked since. Racing at local distance events from Philadelphia, New Jersey, and even surf-ski races along the Northeastern seaboard, I learned the aspects that really make this sport great. Going on to U.S.A. Junior Sprint Team trials in 2011 at San Diego, I made the national development team, and in 2012 made the National Junior Marathon team. Since then, I’ve been racing on the National Team between both disciplines training smart and hard for the dreams and goals that I work to achieve.
