National Velodrome Day

Have you ever wanted to try out track cycling? Are you an avid cyclist on the road or in the mountains? Are you curious about the Olympic Training Center Velodrome or the Olympic Movement?

Then come try out the track for free!

The U.S. Olympic Training Center Velodrome is proud to partner with USA Cycling and Velodromes around the country to offer this exciting opportunity. Come out and experience cycling like you never have before!

Who: Anyone who wants to try track cycling and ride the velodrome. All participants must be at least 9 years of age and have experience riding a bike.

What: We will have velodrome staff, athletes, coaches and community members at the track all day to help you get on the track and stay safe while doing so. We have bikes available for any size individual to use, or bring your own fixed gear track bike!

When: June 3, 2017 10 am - 6pm.

Cost: FREE!

Immediately following we will be hosting a community race from 7 pm - 9 pm. Stick around after trying the track to see real racing action and learn about the different types of races we hold bi-weekly right here in Colorado Springs!

Learn the Velo 

Learn the basic fundamentals to track cycling from USA Cycling coaches and elite athletes. This introductory course will teach beginners track etiquette and safety and everything you need to know about getting started in the sport

Who:

This class is designed for any riders who are interested in learning how to ride the Velodrome track and do not already own a USA Cycling Track Category 4 license or better. Licenses in other disciplines in cycling cannot be fast tracked through the class.

This class is mandatory before any new rider may train on the Velodrome track.

When:

Wednesdays: 6-8 p.m.
Fridays: 6-8 p.m. 

Dates and times are subject to change, so check the current schedule for exact times. 
This class occurs over three 2-hour sessions.
All three sessions must be completed within 30 days of the first payment.       

Requirements:

  • Reserved for ages 16 and older. Participants under 16 may sign up for the junior LTV class.
  • Must be able to ride a bike.
  • Track bicycles will be provided. If you would like to bring your own pedals to fit your shoes, we will put your pedals on the loaner bike.
  • You must bring and wear a helmet. Helmets are not provided.
  • All participants must sign a release form. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must be present to sign.
  • Please dress appropriately for riding – no loose clothing. Colorado weather is known to change quickly, so plan to bring layers.
  • Bring water and a snack.

Community Racing

Tuesday Night Endurance Races
Community racing is open to Track Category 1-4 riders on Tuesdays. Each rider may self-select one of four categories: A, B, C or Women, with Category A reserved for elite riders; B for amateur riders; and C for development riders.  

Thursday Sprint Series
Community racing is open to Track Category 1-4 riders on Thursdays. Each rider completes a 200m time trial for seeding into appropriate sprint category. The sprint competition is then a round robin where each rider races the other three riders in their bracket.  

Passes and Membership

Pass holders are welcome to train at the OTC Velodrome during scheduled community open ride sessions and are offered discounts to weekly races, clinics and training sessions. Riders who wish to upgrade their pass will be charged the difference of their initial purchase.

All passes exclude days of construction for dome erection or take down. Dates for dome construction are based on elite training and will be announced at TeamUSA.org/Velo. 

Payment is accepted in the form of cash, checks and VISA.
