PATRICK D. SANDUSKY
Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer

Patrick D. Sandusky is the chief communications and public affairs officer for the United States Olympic Committee. Sandusky joined the organization in October 2009 after serving at the spokesperson and vice president of communications for the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid. His experience also includes key international leadership roles with Olympic bids, Olympic Organizing Committees, world cups, Big Ten universities and global sports sponsorship programs/activations.

In his current role, Sandusky oversees the communications division in Colorado Springs, Colo., as well as the government relations office in Washington, D.C. In addition to serving as spokesperson for the organization, he is also responsible for the USOC visitor center and U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame.

Prior to leading communications efforts for the Chicago 2016 bid, Sandusky was a vice president at Hill & Knowlton, where he managed large-scale, multinational communications programs for both the Chicago and London offices, and was a leader in the firm’s sports and crisis communications divisions. As part of his four years at H&K London, Sandusky led 27 offices around the globe working on London’s successful bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In addition to his work in the Olympic Movement, Sandusky has managed projects related to Wimbledon, FIFA World Cup, Rugby World Cup, English Premiership, NASCAR and NCAA football for clients such as Gillette, Nestle, Robinsons, Allstate Insurance, Gatorade and Chelsea Football Club. In addition, Sandusky was the agency lead for H&K working with the Big Ten Conference on the inception and launch of the Big Ten Network.

Sandusky was recently named to both the Sports Business Journal’s and PR Week’s prestigious “Forty Under 40” annual recognitions, presented to the top sports executives and public relations executives, respectively, under the age of 40 in the United States. Sandusky currently serves on the board of directors for World Sport Chicago, the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Illinois University Alumni Association.

A former print and radio reporter, Sandusky is an alumnus of Northern Illinois, where he was a senior letter winner in American football for the Huskies. He lives in Colorado Springs, Colo., with his wife, Kate, and their three children.
