GOTZIS, Austia – Maya Nelson (Denver, Colo.) and Jessika Rottier (Little Suamico, Wis.) claimed gold medals in the FILA Cadet division at the Austrian Ladies Open on Friday.

Nelson captured the title at 56 kg. She won two matches in a three-athlete roundrobin. It was the second straight week that Nelson won a gold medal at the FILA Cadet age level, after winning the German Grand Prix last weekend.

Rottier claimed her gold medal at 70 kg, winning both of her matches to sweep a three-athlete roundrobin.

Also winning a bronze medal at 46 kg was Sariyah Jones (Modesto, Calif.), who went 0-2 on the day, while the other American competing Friday, Koral Sugiyama (Pocatello, Idaho), was fourth at 60 kg with a 1-2 record.

The U.S. will have entries in Saturday’s Senior women’s division as well.
