Las Vegas, Nev. – Nearly 500 wrestlers converged on The Strip in Las Vegas for the first-ever Postseason Nationals, March 28-30 in the Riviera Ballroom.

The high school division was highlighted with champions Kanen and Zehlin Storr from Mason, Mich. The brothers, who previously won Postseason Nationals in November 2013, took home new special championships belts for their double championships at both the Preseason and Postseason Nationals.

Kanen Storr, competing at 120 pounds, advanced to a fall with a pin and two technical falls. In the finals, he won by injury default over Isaac Jimenez of the Westside Wizards of Texas. Kanen Storr recently placed second at the Michigan high school state championships.

Zehlin Storr edged Jaydon Rogers of Crusher Wrestling of Utah, 6-5 in the finals. The elder Storr, who just capped his senior season at Leslie High School by going 61-0 and winning the Michigan D3 state high school championship, went 5-0 on the day en route to capturing his championship at 138 pounds

“We went to Preseason (Nationals) to get some tough matches, and me and my brother, we both won it,” said Zehlin Storr. “We heard about the belt in Vegas, so we’re like ‘why not go for it?’”

Tyler Mann of Arkansas captured the title in the highly-competitive high school 170 pound bracket by knocking off Brett Bye of Legends of Gold from South Dakota in the finals. Mann, an Oklahoma State recruit, improved on his 7th place finish from Preseason Nationals.

Southern Nevada’s Sean Cannon put on a show in front of the home crowd with a convincing 10-3 victory in the finals over Sunkist Kids Wrestling’s Ted Rico. Cannon, who has won two Nevada high school titles for Green Valley while amassing a record of 160-3 through his junior season, had two pins before knocking off Connor Williams in the semifinals.

Other individual high school champions were Tanner Benedict of Team Utah (106), Dean Parker of Corona Centennial (113), Cameron Sykora of Pinnacle (126), Dominic Hernandez of Canyon Springs Wrestling (145), Parker Simington of Thompson Valley (152), Dayton Racer of Pinnacle (160), Conner Watanabe of Coronado Wrestling (182), Grant Hamant of Pleasant Hill Wrestling Club (195), Toby McBride of Norco (220) and Jesse Gomez of Dog Pound Wrestling (285).

Competition was also held at six other age divisions, with championship belts awarded to those who were double champions at the Preseason Nationals and the Postseason Nationals.

It was a great start to a new major folkstyle event, which is certain to continue to grow in the future. Congratulations to all of the participants.
