In conjunction with the 2012 USA Olympic Trials, in Iowa City, Iowa, USA Wrestling is offering a Silver Level Coaches College to its member coaches, April 18-20. The Silver College is a requirement for coaches wanting to achieve Silver Certification. From Wednesday, April 18th - Friday, April 20th, coaches from across the country will learn the latest innovations for coaching the sport of wrestling.
The Silver College will include on-the-mat instruction from USA World Team and National Team coaches. There will also be sessions focusing on several aspects of wrestling, which include philosophies both on and off the mat in building future champions.
"We are going to have a great turnout for this Silver College" said USA Wrestling's Manager of the National Coaches Education Program, Cody Bickley. "Especially with the line-up we have coming and it being at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. We have a lot of interest and we definitely encourage coaches to jump on board A.S.A.P."
Included on the agenda are USA Wrestling's National Team coaches, Zeke Jones (freestyle), Steve Fraser (Greco-Roman), and Terry Steiner (women's freestyle). Jones was a World Champion and Olympic medalist and Fraser was an Olympic Champion. Other national coaches include Bill Zadick (freestyle), Brandon Slay (freestyle), and Ike Anderson (Greco-Roman) will appear. Slay was a 2000 Olympic Champion and Anderson a 1988 Olympian while Zadick was a 2006 World Champion.
