Oct 12 U S to face Russia in two freestyle dual meets in New York in November

The United States will compete against a team from Russia, the reigning World Champions, in a pair of men's freestyle dual meets in New York State in November.

The first dual meet will be hosted at Hofstra Univ. in Hempstead, N.Y. on Friday, November 19. The match will be held in Hofstra's University Arena, starting at 7:30 p.m. The event is presented by the New York Athletic Club and the Friends of Long Island Wrestling.

Tickets will cost $20 for general admission and will be available at the door.

The second dual meet will be hosted at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 1:00 p.m.

The event is hosted by Journeymen Wrestling, and will be a part of the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals weekend. The Journeymen High School Scrimmage will be held Friday, Nov. 26. Along with the international dual, the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, featuring top college programs Lehigh, Missouri, American, Virginia, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Binghamton and Rutgers. Also making an appearance is MMA star and former Michigan State wrestler Rashad Evans.

In addition to the USA vs. Russia dual meet, there will be a featured Greco-Roman wrestling match headlined by 2008 Olympic gold medalist Andrea Minguzzi of Italy. The dual will be hosted at halftime of the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals.

Tickets will cost $20 for general admission and will be available at the door.

The final lineups for both the United States and Russia will be announced at a later date.

The Russian team will also be competing at the New York Athletic Club Freestyle International Open in New York, N.Y. on Sunday, November 21.
