Grappling World champion Jeff Monson to appear on No Holds Barred with Eddie Goldman

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman begins by noting the untimely passing of mixed martial arts fighter Evan Tanner. We also discuss the rescheduling of the Affliction mixed martial arts card and what this says about their marketing, advertising, and pay-per-view strategies. And we comment upon the possible entry into mixed martial arts of boxing promoter Don King.

This coming weekend, September 13-14, the USA Grappling World Team Trials will take place at Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. This event is organized by USA Wrestling, the national governing body for the sport of wrestling. This is a qualifying event for the 2008 Grappling World Championships, which will be held in Lucerne, Switzerland, December 20-21.

Jeff Monson ( is an athlete known for his success in both grappling and mixed martial arts. A former ADCC submission wrestling world champion, and Pride and UFC veteran, he was both a world and U.S. champion in grappling in 2007. He will be competing at the Grappling World Team Trials this weekend in hopes of repeating.
