By Gary Abbott | May 28, 2006, 7:55 p.m. (ET)
66 kg - Bill Zadick, Colorado Springs, Colo. (Gator WC)

"I have been training for it, preparing for this. I was able to do it today. This was fun."

(about wrestling for Terry Brands at the Olympic Training Center)
"Ever since Terry got there, the program spiraled upward. More and more elite people come out to train there. He's an elite student of the sport. We are training for a purpose."

(about winning alongside his brother)
"I don't think it's a coincidence. It's purposeful training. We talked about it all the time. Mike started when he was five and I was six when I started. I am older than him. We were very serious, very early. It has always been a dream."

74 kg - Donny Pritzlaff, Northport, N.Y. (New York AC

"Tyrone wanted it as bad as I did. When it is like that, it always comes down to the last few seconds. I broke through. He was a tough competitor. He is quite quick, very explosive, a true competitor.

In the second match, after I go a takedown, I got too defensive and he was able to score. He got some motivation. I had to open up the offense in the last match."

(about a new guard at 74 kg)

"Heskett, Lewis and myself, we are right in there. Ramico is kind of old, but he is right in there too. The younger guys will lead the way at 74 kg in the future."

"I felt confident all year that I can compete at the international level. This year, I took that jump, where I believed I could win competing internationally."

(about winning the 1998 Junior Worlds)
"It has been eight years. It's been a long road. I was making steps, mentally and physically. This year, things started to change. I have a great wife who supports me. Things are going my way now."

84 kg - Andy Hrovat, Ann Arbor, Mich. (New York AC)

"To start the day, I wrestled a guy who beat me twice, and I won. Then I went against somebody I never wrestled (Lawal). I kept to my game plan. He took a shot, and I got my body lock. I always believed I had the best front headlock, body lock in the world. I was able to get it there."

"It feels amazing. This is something I knew I could accomplish. This was my day. I got it done. I felt so good today."

(about Wattenburg)

"It had dinner with him last night. We train together in Chicago, at the Overtime club with Sean Bormet. Before and after the U.S. Nationals we trained. We wrestled each other, all the time. Our goal was to get to the World Team Trials finals. We did that. Unfortunately, one of us had to lose. I want to thank him for helping me get here. I also thank Donny Pritzlaff."

"We improved my training. I got a new lifting program. Sean Bormet put me under his wing. I have a new workout program. I have gotten confidence, competing overseas."

120 kg/264.5 lbs. - Tolly Thompson, Cedar Falls, Iowa (Sunkist Kids)

"He's a tough competitor. Every time we are wrestling, it is a battle royale. I got him onto his back and took advantage of it."

"I felt strong all day. Of course, this is an advantage. I felt good out there today."

"I had a bronze last year. You always want to do better. You get that bronze and build on that. I want to win the gold."

"It is always exciting. That is why you do this. We talked about this in the wrestling room the other day. Why would I do this at my age? It is always fun winning."

(about winning the World Team Trials in Iowa two years in a row)
"I like it here. But I don't care if it is in Russia. You still have to beat me. If I can't do it any more, then it's time to get out."

GRECO-ROMAN

55 kg - Lindsey Durlacher, Colorado Springs, Colo. (New York AC)

"This is a tough tournament. You don't sit out as national champion. They want to make sure everybody is wrestling. I believe I am the hardest working guy on the team. I'm older I have to put more energy into it to win a tournament like this. This is upset city here this year. I am doing the extra things to represent our country in China. They wan't to make sure they have the right person on the team."

"This year I beat him two straight sets convincingly. I am doing the extra things to win. My coaches are instilling that in us. I need to bring a medal back home. The ultimate goal is a gold medal. You have to set attainable goals in this sport or you will fall short. I can say I want to win a medal. A gold would be a bonus."

60 kg - Joe Warren, Colorado Springs, Colo. (New York AC)

(about his physical style)

"I am as calm as I've been out there. That is just my wrestling style. Stay on you as hard as you can, and stay with it. Personally, I am proud of myself and the coaching staff. They had be tuned it. I am ready now to win a gold medal for our country."

"I made a mistake. I am extremely sorry to USA Wrestling. It was a black eye. I want to be a role model for the kids. I learned from this and I moved on."

"When you start looking past people, you get beat. I can't look past those Northern Michigan kids; they are gunning for me. It's not hard to get motivated at this level. I can get focused any time I step on the mat."

84 kg - Jacob Clark, Quantico, Va. (U.S. Marines)

"It is great for both of us to represent both services. It is Memorial Day weekend. Nothing better than taking home a title for the Marine Corps. I owe it to them."

"There are four of us, my brother and me, and the two Sieracki brothers. I respect them more than anymore than anybody else. His older brother Keith took me under his wing. They are family. I am glad one of us was able to do it here."

"The salute - It's Memorial Day weekend. At Nationals, I got one up too. It is my way of representing, to thank everybody. To represent myself, the military, all the people serving overseas. It is my way to show I respect them.

"It is a great feeling. It is something I have thought of. But to be here is surreal. My family said I was going to get it. They believed in me and supported me. I finally believed it myself.

(the difference in the match)
"Coin tosses. I had luck on my side. I am about to hit that Casino boat. I'll probably lose all the money I just made…"
