125 Luke Eustice (Iowa) dec. Kyle Ott (Illinois), 7-2 Ott scored right off the whistle on a double-leg for a 2-0 lead. Escapes by Eustice in the first and second periods tied the score at 2-2 midway through the second. With just over one minute remaining in the second, Eustice finished a single-leg at the edge of the mat for his first lead, 4-2. While still on top, Eustice was able to turn Ott's shoulders and score three back points for a 7-2 advantage. Travis Lee (Cornell) dec. A.J. Grant (Michigan), 3-1 ot In the second period of a scoreless match, Grant chose bottom and earned an escape for a 1-0 lead. Neither wrestler was able to score a takedown in the second period despite some exciting flurries of offense. With 10 seconds left in the match, Lee scoerd an escape to tie the match at 1-1. 20 seconds into the overtime session, Lee got deep on a double-leg and finished for the win. 133 Foley Dowd (Michigan) dec. Mike Simpson (Ariz. St.), 4-3 Simpson was able to get deep on a shot attempt with one minute left in the second period and finished for a 2-0 lead. Dowd tied the match at 2-2 with escapes in the first and second periods. In the third period, Simpson took the lead back with an escape, but with one minute remaining, Dowd finished a single-leg and rode Simpson out for the rest of the match to win. Zach Roberson (Iowa St.) dec. Matt Azevedo (Sunkist Kids), 9-3 Roberson scored on a single-leg midway through the first period and rode Azevedo out for the remainder of the first period. In the second, Roberson extended his lead to 3-0 with an escape. Azevedo shot through Roberson, and after a scramble, came out behind Roberson to cut the lead to 3-2. Roberson quickly scored a reversal and put Azevedo to his back for three near fall points to take a 7-2 lead into the third period. 141 Dana Holland (Ariz. St.) dec. Derek Phillips (C. Michigan), 5-3 After a scoreless first period, Phillips chose bottom in the second and quickly scored an escape, but Holland fired back with a double-leg takedown to win. Holland sealed the win with a takedown with only 30 seconds remaining in the match. Dylan Long (N. Iowa) dec. Jeff Ratliff (Ohio St.), 7-1 Long was able to counter Ratliff's shot attempt and get behind Ratliff for a 2-0 lead. In the second period, Ratliff chose bottom and Long tilted him for three back points and a 5-0 lead. 149 John Fisher (Sunkist Kids) maj. dec. Jon Masa (Hofstra), 13-2 Masa got deep on a double-leg, but Fisher used a crossface to put Masa on his back to take a 5-0 lead midway through the period. Later in the period, Fisher locked up the cradle again and held it there until the end of the period for an 8-0 advantage. Dustin Manotti (Cornell) dec. Mike Mendoza (Dave Schultz WC), 5-1 Mendoza scored an escape in the second period to break a scoreless tie. Manotti scored on a low double-leg with 25 seconds remaining in the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Manotti extended his lead to 3-1 with an escape in the third, but a low double-leg with 15 seconds remaining sealed the win for Manotti. 157 Gray Maynard (Michigan St.) pin Heath Eslinger (Gator WC), 1:57 Maynard used a front headlock to throw Eslinger to his back for what appeared to be a pin, but the official did not call it. Maynard kept the hold and put Eslinger to his back again, earning the pin near the edge of the mat. Keaton Anderson (Ohio St.) pin Derek Jenkins (Rider), 5:59 After no scoring for the first period and a half, Anderson scored a takedown for a 3-0 lead. In the third period, Anderson scored a reversal and three back points to take a commanding 8-0 lead. 165 Joe Heskett (Sunkist Kids) pin Johnny Clark (Ohio St.), 5:46 Heskett and Clark trade takedowns and escapes in the first period before Heskett took control with a double-leg for a 5-3 advantage. In the second period, Clark chose bottom and earned an escape to tie the score at 5-5. Clark then got deep on a single-leg, but Heskett countered and was able to get around behind Clark for another takedown. Matt Lackey (Illinois) dec. Troy Letters (Lehigh), 6-3 Lackey finished a low double-leg at the edge of the mat with one second left in the first period for a 2-0 lead. In the second, Letters got on the scoreboard with an escape, but Lackey finished another takedown to extend his lead to 4-1. Lackey sealed his victory with a late takedown near the edge of the mat. 174 Joe Williams (Sunkist Kids) dec. Brian Glynn (Illinois), 8-4 Williams scored two takedowns in the first period for a 4-1 lead. Williams scored two more takedowns in the second period for an 8-3 advantage, but with one minute remaining in the match, went down with an injury. After being down for nearly 10 minutes, Williams returned to the match and captured the win. Tyler Nixt (Iowa) dec. Nathan Coy (Orange Crush), 3-2 Nixt scored early with a single-leg to take a 2-0 lead. In the second period, Nixt extended his lead to 3-1 with an escape. 184 Jessman Smith (Iowa) dec. Mark Becks (Penn St.), 8-3 Smith scored a takedown immediately after the match started for a 2-0 lead. After a Becks escape, Smith extended his lead to 3-1 after forcing a second stall warning. In the second period, Becks cut the lead to 3-2 with an escape and attempted to take the lead after getting deep on a double-leg, but Smith countered and was able to score the takedown for himself. Smith sealed the win with a takedown late in the third period. Clint Wattenberg (Cornell) dec. Gerald Harris (Cleveland St.), 5-1 Wattenberg scored takedowns in the first and second periods to take a 5-0 lead into the third. 197 Lee Fullhart (Gator WC) dec. Emmett Willson (MS Northern), 1-0 Fullhart scored first with a second-period escape. In the third period, Fullhart rode out Willson to earn the low-scoring win. Jon Trenge (Lehigh) dec. Chris Skretkowicz (Hofstra), 5-2 Trenge spun behind Skretkowicz and slammed him to the mat for a quick 2-0 lead in the first period. In the second period, Skretkowicz chose bottom, but Trenge locked up a cradle and earned three back points to take a 5-1 lead. 285 Steve Mocco (Iowa) pin Kevin Hoy (Air Force), 1:53 Mocco scored a takedown midway through the first for a 2-0 lead.
