Mason Manville named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Mason Manville (Blairstown, N.J./Team USA) has been named Wrestler of the Week.


Each week, will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.


Manville earned a pair of important championships in the span of just one week.


Manville captured a gold medal for the United States at the FILA Cadet World Championships on July 19 in Snina, Slovakia.


Manville defeated Russia’s Radik Valiev 5-0 in the Cadet World freestyle finals at 69 kg/152 lbs.


One week later, Manville won a Junior Nationals freestyle title on July 26 in Fargo, N.D.


He defeated New Jersey teammate David McFadden 7-2 in the Junior Nationals 152-pound finals.


Manville is scheduled to wrestle for the U.S. at the Youth Olympic Games later this year.
