We are happy to announce the appointment of Michael Conroy as the USAW's new Coaching Education Director.  Mike became a competitor in Weightlifting in the early 1980's and has been coaching for more than 20 years.  He is a USAW International Level Coach and a National Referee.  He has coached numerous Junior and Youth national medalists, including 2004 Jr. National Champion and Junior World Team member, Kiyo Fujimoto.

Before joining the USAW staff, Mike was a teacher for 37 years. He has been active in the USAW's coaching education programs for nearly 20 years, having taught weightlifting in schools and colleges, as well as health clubs and CrossFit boxes. In addition, he has served as a head or assistant coach for a number of international teams and coached at many USAW camps and has been the Idaho LWC President for more than 20 years.

Mike’s initial objectives will be organizing the Coaching Conference at the OTC in August, and developing a new Level 2 Coaching Course in conjunction with Zygmunt Smalcerz.  We are sure you will join us in welcoming Mike to this crucial role.
