2013 USA Men’s Junior National Age Group and National Training Team Selections
USA High Performance would like thank all players in the Men’s Junior age group who tried out this year. Coach Hanson and his staff of Jay Hosack and Jonah Carson have reviewed videos, considered tryout evaluations and discussed player levels and improvements with coaches across the country.
Coach Hanson offered the following note to all 2013 Men’s Junior Age Group players:
“On behalf of our current Junior National Men’s coaching staff, Coach Carson, Coach Hosack and myself we would like to thank all of you who participated in an in-person tryout or submitted a video for evaluation.
“Please know that our staff has communicated with one another on several occasions to discuss the possible selection of athletes to this program. Our goal this summer is to assemble the strongest and most well rounded team that we can find to represent USA Volleyball at the Junior World Championships in Turkey in late August. We expect that the World Championships will be a strong tournament and as this is a very important part of the USA pipeline of development leading to participation with our National Team program it is imperative that we find players who can compete at the highest levels.
“For those of you not selected, please also remember that this is also not the last stop in the continuing pipeline. Many former National team players and even Olympians were not selected for some of these types of programs. Yet, they continued to train and dedicate themselves to improvement and being ready for the next opportunity to prove to coaches that they could be a part of our National team. Remember that those of you who were not selected will still have future opportunities to prove yourself worthy of wearing a USA jersey in the future. Please know that our staff appreciates your dedication and effort and we wish you the best in your future.”

2013 USA Junior National Team
Although the High Performance program for USA Volleyball is often referred to at the USA Men’s National Team Athlete Pipeline, it can be better described as a pyramid. Moving up through the age groups, the elite-program offerings become fewer and narrower, leading to the Men’s Junior National Team as the sole summit of this pyramid. However, if any Men’s Junior Age Group players who are still in high school (this is only a small percentage of that age group) would still be interested in participating in a USA High Performance A3 Camp Program, please contact Collin Powers, Director of High Performance at email@example.com.
