United States Citizens Living Abroad

USA Volleyball High Performance understands the struggles that U.S. Citizens living abroad may face when it comes to access to tryouts and programs.  Often, families live overseas for work or because of military participation and athletes miss out on the ability to gain access to the USA Volleyball High Performance Athlete Pipeline.

Athletes with U.S. Passports living permanently or temporarily in a country other than the United States have two options to try out for USA Volleyball High Performance Programs:

1. Travel to the United States at some point during the tryout season and attend a tryout at one of the locations across the country.

2. Register for and submit a video tryout to the program lead for the gender and age group of the athlete.

A. Click here to register for a BOYS' VIDEO TRYOUT and here for a GIRLS' VIDEO TRYOUT.

B. Send an e-mail to the Program Lead for your gender and age group.

Players must register for and submit the tryout video NO LATER THAN two weeks prior to the final tryout date for the season for that gender.  For 2014, girls' submissions are due no later than April 11, 2014; boys' submissions are due no later than March 1, 2014.

Players will be evaluated by the appropriate Program Lead and will be placed in the appropriate program, if warranted.  Athletes will use their 8-digit code to find their results once they are posted.  Boys' results will be posted in March and Girls' results will be posted between April 30 and May 8, 2014.  Click on Tryout Results Info for more information on how and when results will be posted.

Video Tryout Guidelines

Videos may be provided as a link to a YouTube video or other online video platform, or a hard copy DVD may be sent to USA Volleyball.  The address is USA Volleyball - Attn: (Program Lead) 4065 Sinton Road, Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80907

GIRLS
Video tryouts may be taken with any camera - quality is not important as long as the evaluator can clearly see the athlete playing.  There is NO NEED to make the tryout video fancy with graphics or transitions.  Athletes will be evaluated just as if they were at a tryout and USAV only cares about how the athlete plays. The video should be running constantly throughout each required drill below - tryout videos that have been edited to show only successful attempts will be deleted.  The video may cut in between drills.
