CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Continuing their season unscathed, Pepperdine sand volleyball capped the second day of the Beach Collegiate Challenge on a spotless record. Teams now compete in a 24-pair tournament bracket.
In the dual setting, Pepperdine picked up wins against CSU Bakersfield, Hawaii and Grand Canyon to go 3-0 on the weekend, dropping just one set in 15 matches. Grand Canyon finished 2-1, with wins over CSU Bakersfield and Cal State Northridge, who took sets deep into the count but ultimately went 0-3 overall. CSU Bakersfield closed the head-to-head matches with a 1-3 record and Hawaii finished in the positive, 2-1.
With the duals finished, teams entered a 24-team bracket that used seeding based off team overall records from the duals.
After first round action 16 teams remain, including: all six Pepperdine squads, five pairs from Hawaii, three from Grand Canyon and two from CSU Bakersfield. The final four rounds will start at 9 a.m. Sunday, with an overall champion to be named by sunset.
