COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 18, 2014) – Teams from eight countries will join the United States on July 14-19 in Tulsa, Oka., as USA Volleyball hosts the 2014 NORCECA U19 Continental Championship.
The championship will kick start with three days of pool play, followed by quarterfinals on July 17, semifinals on July 18 and medal rounds on July 19 at the Cox Business Center Arena. The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2015 U21 FIVB World Championship.
“We are happy to be able to bring high-level, international boys’ volleyball to Tulsa,” said Tom Pingel, USAV senior director of events and high performance. “We hope people will use this opportunity to see some possible future members of our U.S. Men’s National Team.”
Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala, Antigua and Barbuda, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Cuba and the United States will make up the field at the U19 Continental Championship.
The tournament will serve as the opening act for the 2014 USAV High Performance Championship, which will be July 22-26 at the Cox Business Center Arena.
Admission is free to fans during the qualifying and pool play rounds, with an $8 charge for the semi and final rounds.
