Dykstra Pardon Secure Silver at U23 Worlds
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 15, 2014) – The U.S. women’s beach volleyball team of Lara Dykstra and Jace Pardon took silver on Sunday at the FIVB U23 World Championships on Saturday in Myslowice, Poland.

The No. 29 seeded Dykstra (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Pardon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) defeated Finland’s No. 13 Taru Lahti and Anniina Parkkinen in Sunday’s semifinals, 21-15, 21-13.

However, the U.S. team lost a battle in the gold medal match to Australia’s No. 2 Nicole Laird and Mariafe Artacho, 21-19, 17-21, 15-7.
The Americans played a clever game with cuts and dinks around Laird’s big block and pushed the Australians to the limit.
“We knew it was going to be tough, USA always comes to play,” Artacho said. “They are very competitive, we knew it was going to be a three-setter.”
Dykstra and Pardon came back strong after losing the first set and pushed the match into a tiebreak.
