COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 10, 2013) – Four U.S. men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams are set to compete in the ninth stage of the NORCEA Beach Volleyball Circuit from October 11-13 in Saint Lucia.

The U.S. teams of Heather Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.)  and Lane Carico (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) along with Kaitlin Nielsen (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Sarah Day (Huntington Beach, Calif.) are featured in the women’s division.

Carico and Hughes captured gold in the eighth leg of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit in Chula Vista, Calif., while Nielsen and Day took home silver. Additionally, Carico finished first in the seventh leg in Puerto Rico alongside Sara Hughes.

The teams of John Hyden (San Diego, Calif.) and Tri Bourne (Aiea, Hawaii) along with David McKienzie (Lakewood, Colo.) and Austin Rester (Grapevine, Texas) will represent the U.S. in the men’s division.

Hyden and Bourne are looking to improve on their second-place finish last weekend in Chula Vista.

This event will be the international beach volleyball debut for McKienzie, who was on the men’s indoor team, at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Pool play begins on Friday and continues through Saturday. Semifinals and medal-matches are set for Sunday.
