COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 28, 2013) – The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team held its second Red-Blue intrasquad scrimmage on May 24 at the Windward School in Los Angeles.

The scrimmage went five sets with players switching sides creating various roster combinations. The squad will play its third Red-Blue scrimmage in as many weeks on May 31 at Irvine Valley College. The match starts at 7 p.m. PT and is open to public free of charge.

Rachael Adams (Cincinnati) produced 10 points with four aces, three kills and three blocks in four sets to pace the middle blockers. Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles) scored seven points with seven kills on 16 errorless attacks in five sets. Lauren Paolini (Ann Arbor, Mich.) pocketed seven kills on 14 attacks and a block for eight points. Danielle Scott-Arruda (Baton Rouge, La.) tallied four blocks as part of six points in two sets.

Libero Tama Miyashiro (Kaneohe, Hawaii) secured a match-high 12 digs in five sets. Kayla Banwarth (Dubuque, Iowa) tallied a 69 positive reception percent to go with eight digs in four sets, while college senior-to-be Natalie Hagglund (Encinitas, Calif.) played three sets with six digs and a 68 positive reception percent.

For the outside hitters, Kim Hill (Portland, Ore.) totaled a match-high 15 points with 12 kills, two aces and a block. She added six digs in her five sets of action. Cassidy Lichtman (Poway, Calif.) recorded 12 points, all on kills, with seven digs in five sets from her outside hitter spot. Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.) played two sets with eight kills and a block.

Juliann Faucette (San Diego) paced the opposite hitters with 11 kills on 31 attacks and two blocks for 13 points. Kelly Murphy (Wilmington, Ill.) collected nine points with six kills, two blocks and an ace in two sets.

Caitlyn Donahue (Overland Park, Kan.) tallied a match-high 27 assists in three sets while adding two kills and a block. Jenna Hagglund (West Bend, Ohio) contributed 23 assists in three sets, while Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.) charted 18 assists in two sets to go with three blocks, one kill and one ace.

The U.S. Women are preparing for the upcoming Pan American Cup June 8-17 in Lima, Peru. Later this summer, the U.S. hosts Japan in the inaugural USA Volleyball Cup with matches on July 10 at UC San Diego, July 12 at Long Beach State University and on July 13 at JSerra High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
