COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 13, 2013) – The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team will compete in three Red-Blue intra-squad scrimmages on consecutive Friday nights in May. All three contests will be open to the public free of charge.

The first scrimmage will take place May 17 at Santa Monica High School’s North Gym in Santa Monica, Calif. The Red-Blue scrimmage series moves to Los Angeles where Windward School will host the match on May 24. Irvine Valley College will host the May 31 match in Irvine, Calif. All three matches will begin at 7 p.m. PT.

U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly plans to incorporate additional Red-Blue intra-squad scrimmages during the summer as a means to provide match-like competition for all athletes training and to build community relations with the Southern California area. The City of Anaheim serves as the official host city of the USA Men’s and Women’s National Teams.

Later this summer the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team will renew a long-standing, friendly rivalry series with Japan as the two teams take part in the inaugural USA Volleyball Cup with three matches scheduled for the Southern California market in July.

The USA Volleyball Cup series opens July 10 in San Diego on the campus of UC San Diego, followed by a July 12 contest at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State University in Long Beach. The two teams conclude the series on July 13 at JSerra High School in San Juan Capistrano. All three matches have start times of 7 p.m. PT.

General admission match ticket prices for the USA Volleyball Cup series are $20 for adults and $5 for youth ages 18-and-under for each match, online or at the door. Children 3-and-under will be admitted free. VIP tickets, which include pre- and post-match hospitality, VIP parking, special court-side reserved seating and a chance to meet Coach Kiraly and some of the U.S. Women, will be sold for $150.
