COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 13, 2013) – The playoffs in Italy and Russia are now over, which completes the 2012-13 overseas club season for U.S. men's players competing around the world.

ITALY

U.S. middle blocker Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio) and his Italian Serie A league team Copra Elior Piacenza put up a good fight, but fell to Itas Diatec Trentino in the deciding match of the league playoffs, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12 on May 12. Holt finished with 12 points on six attacks (66.7 kill percent, .667 hitting efficiency), three blocks and three aces.

RED VS. BLUE

The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team will prepare for the 2013 World League with a Red vs. Blue scrimmage at 7 p.m. on May 25 at JSerra Pavilion at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Only general admission seating is available.

RUSSIA

U.S. outside hitter Matt Anderson (West Seneca, N.Y.), a 2012 Olympian, and his Russian Super League team Zenit Kazan won their league playoff for third place, defeating Guberniya Nizniy Novgorod, 2-0 in the best-of-three match series. On May 7, Kazan defeated Novgorod, 25-21, 25-20, 25-14. Anderson scored 12 points on 10 attacks (50.0 kill percent, .400 hitting efficiency) and two blocks. He was also credited with 17 receptions, 41 percent positive. On May 10, Kazan beat Novgorod, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20. Anderson again finished with 12 points. To view photos, click here.

The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team will play Argentina on June 7-8 at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan. It will play France on June 14-15 at the Tulsa Convention Center Arena in Reno Nev. It will play Bulgaria on June 28-29 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev.
