DENVER, Colo. (March 10, 2013) – The U.S .Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team completed its five-match exhibition with Canada on Sunday with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-12 victory at the Colorado Convention Center.

The exhibition series was held in conjunction with the Colorado Crossroads Junior Nationals Qualifier.

The U.S. Women’s Sitting Team led Canada in kills (24-11), blocks (4-3) and aces (20-4). Canada, which brought only six players for the exhibitions, was missing a player on its side on Sunday and U.S. players helped fill the gap.

Angela DeHaan (Yuba City, Calif.) and Nicole Nieves (Kissimmee, Fla.) led the U.S. in scoring with 11 points apiece. DaHaan scored on four kills and a team-high seven aces. Nieves scored on four attacks, a team-high two blocks and five aces.

Heather Erickson (Fayetteville, N.C.) added 10 points on nine attacks and one block. Kendra Lancaster (Westfield, Ind.) scored six points on four kills and two aces. Alexis Shifflett (Waseca, Minn.) scored four points on two kills and two aces. Cali Overcast (Colorado Springs, Colo.) totaled four points on one attack and three aces.

Kaleo Kanahele (Oklahoma City, Okla.)j scored two points on one block and one ace.

The U.S. Women’s Sitting Team, which is based at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, is scheduled to compete next at a tournament in Europe this summer.
