“We have played at Crossroads several times over the past few years and it has always been a really good experience for the players,” said Bill Hamiter, high performance director of the U.S. sitting volleyball program and head coach of the U.S. Women’s Sitting Team.

“It is great to bring sitting volleyball to people who might have never seen it, or at least have never seen it played live.”

The U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team won the silver medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. Players from that team scheduled to appear in Denver are Kari Miller (Washington, D.C.), Heather Erickson (Fayetteville, N.C.), Kendra Lancaster (Westfield, Ind.) and Kaleo Kanahele (Oklahoma City, Okla.).

Other U.S. players who will be competing in Denver are Nicole Nieves (Kissimmee, Fla.), Alexis Shifflet (Waseca, Minn.), Cali Overcast (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Bethany Zummo (Dublin, Calif.) and Angela DeHaan (Yuba City, Calif.). Zummo and DeHaan were alternates to the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Sitting Volleyball Team.

The teams will play two matches on both Friday and Saturday, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days. They will play their final match on Sunday at 9 a.m.

A one-day spectator pass for the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifier is $10. A pass for two or more days is $20. For more information about the tournament, visit coloradocrossroads.org.
