Ross, Pavlik Finish Fourth at Beach Worlds

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 6, 2013) – The U.S. team of April Ross and Whitey Pavlik finished fourth on Saturday at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Stare Jablonki, Poland.
Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif.), seeded No. 3, fell to Brazil’s No. 13 Liliane Maestrini and Barbara Seixas in the bronze medal match, 21-18, 21-15 in 37 minutes.
The U.S. pair lost in the semifinals to Germany’s No. 17 Karla Borger and Britta Buhte, 21-15, 21-19 in 36 minutes. Borger and Buhte went on to play China’s No. 2 Chen Xue and Xi Zhang in the women’s final.
On the men’s side, No. 3 Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Sean Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.) fell to Brazil’s No. 10 Ricardo Santos and Alvaro Filho, 21-18, 21-17 in 40 minutes on Saturday. The U.S. team finished tied for ninth.
