DALLAS (July 3, 2013) - Team White earned the gold medal in the 2013 U.S. Women’s National Volleyball A2 Program (WNTA2) Tournament after defeating Team Gold Wednesday afternoon in the championship match. Team Red defeated Team Blue to earn a third-place finish at the event.

All matches were played at the Dallas Convention Center in conjunction with the 2013 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships.

Head Coach Mike Hebert and Assistant Coach Marci Sanders led Team White to a 24-26, 25-12, 25-23, 25-21 victory over Team Gold, which is led by Head Coach Andy Banachowski and Assistant Coach Linda Hampton.

Team White was sparked by Lauren Wicinski (Geneva, Ill.), who scored 25 points on 21 kills and three blocks and one ace. Courtney Thomas (DeKalb, Ill.) added 10 points on seven kills, two aces and one block. Brooke Mattingly (St. Henry, Ohio) chalked up 10 points of her own on seven kills, two aces and one block. DeLaina Sarden (Lawrenceville, Ga.) contributed another 10 points on her six kills and match-high four blocks. Kaitlyn Leary (Parma, Ohio) added seven points on seven kills. Whitney Billings (Helena, Ala.) tallied four points on four kills. Ashley Battle (Apex, N.C.) contributed two points on one kill and one block. Kathryn LeCheminant (Layton, Utah), Ellen Chapman (Glenview, Ill.) and Hannah Kvitle (Quincy, Ill.) all added one point on one kill apiece.

Leading Team White on defense was Courtney Cramer (Martinsville, Ind.), who tallied 10 perfect passes in 22 attempts (.360 efficiency).

Team Gold was led by Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho), who tallied 15 points on 13 kills and two aces. Nicole Walch (Stuart, Fla.) added 12 points on 11 kills and two aces. Taylor Simpson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) chalked up eight points on six kills, one block and one ace. Zoe Nightingale (Sacramento, Calif.) contributed seven points with three blocks, two kills and two aces. Alexis Mathews (Detroit, Mich.) also added seven points, scoring on four kills and three blocks. Litara Keil (Long Beach, Calif.) chalked up five points on four kills and one ace. Elizabeth Koberstein (Madison, Wis.) added two kills and one block, while Deedra Foss (McKenna, Wash.) added one kill. Maddy Klineman (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) added an ace.

Veronica Lewis (San Jose, Calif.) passed five perfect passes in 11 attempts (.360 efficiency), while Annemarie Hickey (Oswego, Ill.) tallied 21 perfect passes in 36 attempts (.250 efficiency).

In the bronze-medal match, Team Red, led by Head Coach Bill Neville and Assistant Coach Ashley Allen, chalked up a 25-21, 25-22, 25-14 to clinch the bronze medal. They bested Team Blue, which is led by Head Coach Ruth Nelson and Assistant Coach Mike Gawlik.

Team Red was led by Casey Hinger (Fullerton, Calif.), who scored 16 points on nine kills and a match-high seven blocks. Kathleen Luft (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) scored 13 kills, one block and one ace. Kierra Jones (Fishers, Ind.) added 10 points on six kills, three blocks and one ace. Tai Manu-Olevao (Honolulu, Hawaii) contributed eight points on six kills, one block and one ace, while Moneshia Simmons (Buford, Ga.) added five points on four kills and one block. Valerie Nicole (Normal, Ill.) also tallied five points on three kills and two blocks. Courtney Windham (Houston, Texas) added three points on three kills. Hannah Johnson (Longview, Wash.) added two points on one block and one ace. Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) added one point on one kill.

On defense, Kori Moster (Cincinnati, Ohio) added 22 perfect passes in 32 attempts (.700 efficiency), while Caitlin Welch (Louisville, Ky.) tallied 12 perfect passes in 16 attempts (.750 efficiency).

Team Blue was led by Victoria Hurtt (Kansas City, Mo.), who clipped 19 points on 17 kills and two blocks. Adreene Elliott (Winston-Salem, N.C.) added 11 points on 10 kills and one block, while Simone Antwi (Fairfax Station, Va.) added eight points on five kills three blocks. Annie Drews (Elkhart, Ind.) added six points on six kills. Chantale Riddle (Roswell, N.M.) chalked up five points on four kills and one block. Ashley Wittman (Shakopee, Minn.) tallied four points on three kills one block. Kimberly Dahl (Pleasant Grove, Utah) chipped in three points on three kills. Hannah Tedrow (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) added two points on two kills.

Kristen Hahn (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) chalked up 12 perfect passes in 24 attempts (.500 efficiency), while Ellen Mullins (Nashville, Tenn.) added nine perfect passes in 19 attempts (.470 efficiency).
