WNT A2 Roster and Schedule

DALLAS (July 2, 2013) - Team Gold and Team White won semifinal round matches Tuesday afternoon to advance to the gold-medal match of the 2013 U.S. Women’s National Volleyball A2 Program (WNTA2) tournament being held at the Dallas Convention Center in conjunction with the 2013 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships.

Head Coach Andy Banachowski and Assistant Coach Linda Hampton led Team Gold to a four-set victory over Team Blue, which is led by Head Coach Ruth Nelson and Assistant Coach Mike Gawlik.

Team White, led by Head Coach Mike Hebert and Assistant Coach Marci Sanders, also chalked up a four-set victory in their semifinal match. They bested Team Red, which is led by Head Coach Bill Neville and Assistant Coach Ashley Allen.

After dropping the first set 25-23, Team Gold bounced back to win the next three 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 to advance to Wednesday’s gold-medal match.

Team Gold was led by Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho), who tallied 17 points on 14 kills and three aces. Taylor Simpson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) chalked up 14 points on 13 kills and one block. Litara Keil (Long Beach, Calif.) added 11 points on seven kills and three blocks, while Alexis Mathews (Detroit, Mich.) tallied 11 points of her own on eight kills and three blocks. Zoe Nightingale (Sacramento, Calif.) contributed seven points with her four kills and three blocks. Nicole Walch (Stuart, Fla.) garnered four points on three kills and one block. Elizabeth Koberstein (Madison, Wis.) added one point on one block.

Veronica Lewis (San Jose, Calif.) added two points with two aces and chalked up seven perfect passes in 17 attempts (.290 efficiency).

Annemarie Hickey (Oswego, Ill.) tallied 13 perfect passes in 18 attempts (.390 efficiency).

Team Blue was led by Ashley Wittman (Shakopee, Minn.), who scored 16 points on 15 kills and one block. Kimberly Dahl (Pleasant Grove, Utah) added 12 points on 11 kills and one block. Adreene Elliott (Winston-Salem, N.C.) chalked up 11 points on six kills, three blocks and two aces, while Annie Drews (Elkhart, Ind.) added nine points on seven kills and two aces. Simone Antwi (Fairfax Station, Va.) also earned nine points with her six kills, two blocks and one ace. Chantale Riddle (Roswell, N.M.) added six points on five kills and one block. Mackenzie Dagostino (Tampa, Fla.) scored five points on four kills and one ace.

Kristen Hahn (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) chalked up 15 perfect passes in 28 attempts (.540 efficiency), while Ellen Mullins (Nashville, Tenn.) added three perfect passes in six attempts (.500 efficiency).

Team Blue set the pace in passing, garnering seven more perfect passes than Team Gold (40-33). They also recorded more kills (54-49). Both squads tallied six aces in the four-set match, and Team Gold held the decisive advantage in blocks (13-8).

On the other half of the bracket, Team White earned the 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-16 victory over Team Red to advance to the championships.

Team White was led by Lauren Wicinski (Geneva, Ill.), who scored 25 points on 24 kills and one ace. Courtney Thomas (DeKalb, Ill.) added 16 points on 10 kills, three blocks and three aces. Brooke Mattingly (St. Henry, Ohio) tallied 11 points on seven kills and three blocks, while DeLaina Sarden (Lawrenceville, Ga.) contributed nine points on her match-high five blocks and four kills. Whitney Billings (Helena, Ala.) chalked up eight points on six kills and two blocks. Kaitlyn Leary (Parma, Ohio) added seven points on six kills and one ace. Kathryn LeCheminant (Layton, Utah) tallied two points on one ace and one kill. Ellen Chapman (Glenview, Ill.) also added two points on an ace and a kill. Hannah Kvitle (Quincy, Ill.) added one point on one kill.

Team Red was led by Kathleen Luft (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), who scored 13 points on eight kills, four aces and one block. Moneshia Simmons (Buford, Ga.) added 12 points on 10 kills and two blocks, while Kierra Jones (Fishers, Ind.) tallied 10 points on nine kills and one block. Casey Hinger (Fullerton, Calif.) totaled nine points on six kills and three blocks. Tai Manu-Olevao (Honolulu, Hawaii) added six points on five kills and one ace. Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) also contributed six points with her six kills.

Team White held the advantage in aces (7-6), kills (61-44) and blocks (13-7).
