U.S. outside hitter Reid Priddy (Richmond, Va.), a 2004, ’08 and ’12 Olympian, and his Turkish league team Halkbank Ankara defeated U.S. setter Kevin Hansen (Newport Beach, Calif.), a 2008 Olympian, and Arkas Izmir Spor, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16 on Jan. 26. Priddy finished with 16 points on 13 attacks (54.2 kill percent, .500 hitting efficiency), one block and two aces. He was also credited with 20 receptions, 50 percent positive. Hansen scored two points on one kill and one ace and also set his team to a 43.1 kill percent and a .304 hitting efficiency.
U.S. opposite Brook Billings (Santa Barbara, Calif.), a 2004 Olympian, and Istanbul BBSK defeated Cankaya Bld. Anka, 19-25, 26-24, 25-19, 28-30, 16-14 on Jan. 26. Billings led his team with 24 points on 21 attacks and three blocks.
U.S. outside hitter Matt Anderson (West Seneca, N.Y.), a 2012 Olympian, helped his Russian Super League team Zenit Kazan to a 27-25, 25-23, 25-20 win over VK Grozny on Jan. 26. Anderson finished with eight points on eight attacks (50.0 kill percent, .438 hitting efficiency). He was also credited with 20 receptions, 45 percent positive.
U.S. outside hitter Paul Lotman (Lakewood, Calif.), a 2012 Olympian, and his Polish league team Asseco Resovia Rzeszow fell to Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the final of the Polish Cup, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 on Jan. 27. To view photos from the match, click here.
U.S. setter Donald Suxho (Korce, Albania), a 2004 and ’12 Olympian, and his Argentina league team Drean Bolívar went 2-0 last week. On Jan. 24, Bolívar beat UPCN San Juan Voley Club, 29-27, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19. Suxho scored nine points on four attacks and five blocks. He also set Bolívar to a 54.3 kill percent and a .495 hitting efficiency. On Jan. 26, Bolívar beat PSM Voley, 25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-8. Suxho started the first, second, fourth and fifth sets and scored one point on an attack. He set his team to a 46.4 kill percent and a .413 hitting efficiency.
U.S. setter Kawika Shoji (Honolulu, Hawaii) and his German league team the Berlin Recycling Volleys defeated Evivo Duren, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20 25-19 on Jan. 26. Shoji scored two points on one block and one ace. He also set his team to a 46.8 kill percent and a .413 hitting efficiency.
U.S. opposite Carson Clark (Santa Barbara, Calif.), libero Alfee Reft (Oxnard, Calif.) and their French league team Montpellier defeated U.S. outside hitter Robert Tarr (Cape Canaveral, Fla.) and middle blocker Matt Rawson (Los Angeles) and their French league team Cannes, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 27-25 on Jan. 26. Clark scored 17 points on 15 attacks, one block and one ace. Reft was credited with 31 receptions, 58 percent positive. For Cannes, Tarr finished with eight points on seven attacks and one ace. Rawson added four points on four attacks.
The French league team Toulouse, including U.S. opposite Evan Patak (Pleasanton, Calif.) and middle blocker Andy Hein (Carol Stream, Ill.), defeated Paris Volley, 31-33, 25-21, 25-27, 25-21, 15-10 on Jan 25. Patak scored 21 points on 20 attacks and one block. Hein added nine points on nine kills (81.8 kill percent, .818 hitting efficiency).
U.S. middle blocker David Smith (Saugus, Calif.) and the French league team Tours defeated Ajaccio, 22-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-10 on Jan. 26. Smith scored nine points on five attacks and four blocks.
In France’s B league, AS Orange Nassau, including U.S. libero Dustin Watten (Long Beach, Calif.) and outside hitters Damien Scott (Santa Ana, Calif.) and Eric Vance (Camarillo, Calif.) fell to Martigues, 25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 15-11 on Jan. 26. Vance finished with 16 points on 14 attacks and two blocks. He was also credited with 30 receptions, 97 percent positive. Scott added seven points on six kills and one block. He was also credited with 41 receptions, 98 percent positive. Watten was credited with seven receptions, 100 percent positive.
U.S. opposite Murphy Troy (St. Louis, Mo.) and Andreoli Latina defeated Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-13 on Jan. 27. Troy played as a substitute and scored one points on one ace.
In Italy’s Serie A2 league, U.S. outside hitter Garrett Muagututia (Oceanside, Calif.) and Sieco Service Ortona fell to Sidigas Atripalda, 18-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-18, 15-10 on Jan. 27. Muagututia scored 12 points on 11 attacks and one block. He was also credited with 34 receptions, 82 percent positive.
CEV CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Kevin Hansen and Arkas Izmir Spor have advanced to the six-team playoff of the Champions League after defeating host Poland’s PGE Skra Belchatow, 25-14, 21-25, 25-22, 18-25, 20-18 and then winning a golden set to break their 1-1 match tie, 15-12 on Jan. 23. Hansen scored five points on one kill, a team-high three blocks and one ace. He also set the team to a 49.2 kill percent and a .429 hitting efficiency. In the next round, Hansen and his Turkish team will face Poland’s Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle on Feb. 5 in Poland and on Feb. 12 in Turkey.
Russia’s Zenit Kazan, which includes U.S. middle blocker David Lee (Alpine, Calif.), a 2008 and 2012 Olympian, and Matt Anderson, will play Russian Super League rival Dinamo Moscow in the six-team playoff. The teams will play on Feb. 6 in Kazan and on Feb. 13 in Moscow.

Paul Lotman and Asseco Resovia Rzeszow have been eliminated from the Champions League after losing a second match to Italy’s Lube Banca March Macerata, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18 on Jan. 23. Lotman started the first two sets and scored three points on three attacks (50.0 kill percent, .500 hitting efficiency). He was credited with 13 receptions, 62 percent positive.
Reid Priddy and visiting Halkbank Ankara defeated Belgium’s Knack Roeselare for a second match, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20 on Jan. 23. The victory means Halkbank will advance to the semifinals. Priddy scored 10 points on 10 attacks (55.6 kill percent, .500 hitting efficiency). He was also credited with four receptions, 75 percent positive. In the semifinals, Ankara will play Russia’s Lokomotiv Kharkiv on Feb. 6 in Turkey and on Feb. 13 in Russia.
Murphy Troy and Italy’s Andreoli Latina will also play in the semifinals after winning a golden set to defeat Germany’s Generali Unterhaching. On Jan. 24, visiting Unterhaching beat Latina, 26-24, 26-24, 25-21. However, a golden set was played to break the teams’ tie in matches and Latina won that 15-11. Troy started the second and third sets of the match along with the golden set and scored 13 points on nine attacks, two blocks and two aces. Latina will play Turkey’s Maliye Milli Piyango Ankara in the semifinals. The teams will play in Turkey on Feb. 6 and in Italy on Feb. 13.
David Smith and his French league team Tours were eliminated from the CEV Cup after losing a golden set to Russia’s Lokomotiv Kharkiv on Jan. 23. Tours lost the main match to host Kharkiv, 25-18, 25-16, 17-25, 30-28. Smith scored six points on four kills and two blocks. However, because Tours had won the first match between the two teams, a golden set was played. Kharkiv won that, 15-6.
CEV CHALLENGE CUP
U.S. middle blocker Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Copra Elior Piacenza defeated Bulgaria’s visiting CVC Gabrovo, 25-19, 25-13, 29-27 on Jan. 23 in Italy. Holt played in the match but did not score. Piacenza advances to the quarterfinals where it will travel to play Stroitel Minsk of Belarus on Feb. 6 and host the team on Feb. 13.
