COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 13, 2013) – The 2013 USA Premier Volleyball League (PVL), a league comprised of teams from among USA Volleyball’s 40 Regional Volleyball Associations, opens its women’s season this Friday in Omaha, Neb.
The Great Plains Tornados will play the Heart of America Havoc at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. The match will be played on Court 30 as part of the Omaha President’s Day Classic.
A total of 10 PVL competitions are planned to take place starting this weekend and running through the beginning of May. The 2013 PVL tentative schedule can be found by clicking here with additional information being added as it becomes available.
Each PVL team is required to play in at least one event involving at least two other PVL teams or two separate matches against other PVL teams prior to competing in the PVL Women’s Championship May 25-28 at the USA Volleyball Open National Championships at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. The PVL Men’s Championship will be held June 29 to July 2 during the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.
In addition, the top four teams finishing at the PVL Women's Championship in May, who are able to participate, are eligible to compete in a final PVL event held June 29 to July 3 at the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas.
The PVL is an adult High Performance initiative based on the USA Volleyball Region system, but operates under a professional sports model. The USA PVL is sanctioned by USA Volleyball (USAV) and will offer tournament play, PVL Conference Championships and a national championship event each year.
