USA Beach Volleyball 2012 Yearbook

The Yearbook includes match recaps and statistics from the 2012 Olympic Games, recaps and results from the 2012 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour along with results from NORCECA and domestic events, player profiles and many full-color photos.

BEACH COLLEGIATE CHALLENGE

USA Volleyball will host its second Beach Collegiate Challenge of 2013 on April 20-21 in Hermosa Beach, Calif. The tournament will be the last sand volleyball competition before the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championships on May 3-5 in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Teams that are scheduled to compete in Hermosa Beach (north side of the pier in front of the Beach House Hotel) are Pepperdine, Southern California (USC), CSU Long Beach, Hawaii, Loyola Marymount, UCLA, Santa Clara and CSU Bakersfield.

NORCECA GUATEMALA

Four U.S. beach volleyball teams will compete April 19-21 in the NORCECA Beach Circuit event at Campo Marte Park in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

In the women’s bracket, Jenny Kropp (Grand Island, Neb.) and Whitney Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif.), the USA-A team, will return to Guatemala to try to defend the gold medal they won there in 2012. The pair took silver at the opening 2013 NORCECA Beach Circuit event in Cayman Islands.

Joining Kropp and Pavlik in the women’s bracket will be Brittany Hochevar (Fowler, Colo.) and Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.). Day won a gold medal with Heather Hughes at the 2012 NORCECA Beach Circuit event in Chula Vista, Calif. Hochevar won silver with Summer Ross (San Diego, Calif.) at the NORCECA event on March 29-31 in the Dominican Republic

On the men’s side, John Mayer (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) will pair with Stafford Slick (Andover, Minn.) as the USA-A team. Mayer won the silver medal with Brad Keenan (Westminster, Calif.) at the last NORCECA Beach Circuit event on March 29-31 in the Dominican Republic.

For USA-B, Joey Dykstra (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) will play with Andy McGuire (Manhattan Beach, Calif.).

FIVB FUZHOU OPEN

The FIVB has determined main draw and qualifying teams for the Fuzhou Open, the first FIVB Beach Volleyball Open of 2013, which will be played April 23-28 in Fuzhou, China.

On the women’s side, Jennifer Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and April Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) will open in the main draw along with Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Ind.) and Nicole Branagh (Orinda, Calif.) as well as Brittany Hochevar and April Ross.

The team of Jennifer Fopma (Bellflower, Calif.) and Brooke Sweat (Fort Myers, Fla.) will compete in the qualification bracket. Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.) and Heather Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.) along with Jenny Kropp (Grand Island, Neb.) and Whitney Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif.) are listed as reserve teams.

In the men’s bracket, Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Sean Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.) will start in the main draw along with Jake Gibb (Bountiful, Utah) and Casey Patterson (Van Nuys, Calif.) and also Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Ryan Doherty (Toms River, N.J.).

No U.S. men’s teams are scheduled to compete in the qualifier.
