COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 2, 2012) –  The U.S. beach volleyball team of Jennifer Kessy and April Ross won an all-Olympian final on Sunday at the AVP Tour event in Cincinnati’s Washington Park.

In the women’s final, Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.), who won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, defeated three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh (San Jose, Calif.) and 2008 Olympian Nicole Branagh (Orinda, Calif.), 21-11, 21-18.

Kessy and Ross were the tournament’s second-seeded team behind Jenny Kropp (Grand Island, Neb.) and Whitney Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif.), whom Kessy and Ross defeated in Sunday’s semifinals, 21-12, 21-16. It was Kropp and Pavlik’s first domestic tournament loss of the season.

Walsh and Branagh, who were seeded No. 4, defeated No. 6 Jennifer Fopma (Bellflower, Calif.) and Brooke Sweat (Fort Myers, Fla.) in the other women’s semifinal, 21-14, 21-12.

On the men’s side, No. 1 seeded John Hyden (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) and Sean Scott (Kailua, Hawaii) defeated No. 3 Matt Fuerbringer (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Nick Lucena (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) in the final, 21-17, 21-16.

In the semifinals, Hyden and Scott defeated 2008 Olympic gold medalists and 2012 Olympians Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.), 21-15, 22-20.

Fuerbringer and Lucena beat out Brad Keenan (Westminster, Calif.) and John Mayer (Thousand Oaks, Calif.).
