COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 25, 2012) – The U.S. women’s team of Heather Hughes and Jennifer Snyder finished fourth on Sunday at the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour event in Seven Miles Beach, Grand Cayman, the opening event of the 2012 series.

After going 3-0 in the winners’ bracket Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.) and Snyder (Glendale, Ariz.) suffered their first loss of the tournament in Sunday’s semifinal to the Mexico-1 team of Marta Revueltas and Vanessa Virgen, 21-19, 19-21, 15-13.

Hughes and Snyder played Yarleen Santiago and Yamileska Yantin of Puerto Rico in the bronze medal match and lost, 21-16, 21-19. Hughes and Snyder had beaten Santiago and Yantin on Saturday.

In the women’s gold medal match, Revueltas and Virgen defeated the Mexico-2 team of Bibiana Candelas and Mayra Garcia, 21-6, 21-19.
