COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 17, 2012) – The women’s beach volleyball team of Geena Urango and Caitlin Ledoux won the USA Volleyball International Development Qualifier (IDQ) played Saturday and Sunday at Dockweiler Beach in Playa del Rey, Calif.

Urango (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and Ledoux (Phelan, Calif.) defeated Lynne Galli (San Diego, Calif.) and Kim DiCello (San Diego, Calif.) in the final, 21-18, 21-10.

With the victory, Urango and Ledoux have qualified to compete at the NORECA beach volleyball events in Trinidad & Tobago (Oct. 12-14) and Antigua (Oct. 19-21).

By finishing second, Galli and DiCello qualified to compete at the NORCECA Beach Tour event in Puerto Rico (Nov. 9-11).

In Sunday’s semifinals, Urango and Ledoux defeated Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.) and Tealle Hunkus (Girard, Ohio), 21-14, 21-17. Galli and DiCello made it past Summer Ross (San Diego, Calif.) and Lane Carico (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), 23-21, 16-21, 15-13.

On Saturday, the beach volleyball team of Jon Mesko (Traverse City, Mich.) and Will Montgomery (Santa Barbara, Calif.) won the men’s IDQ.

In the final Mesko and Montgomery topped Derek Olson (Eugene, Ore.) and Matt Motter (Encinitas, Calif.), 17-21, 21-18, 15-12.
