HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. (July 19, 2012) – The 2012 USA Volleyball Beach High Performance Championships (Beach HPC) crowned their first gold medalists on Thursday.

In the men’s under-21 division, Kyle Stevenson (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) and Alex Jones (Sunnyvale, Calif.) won the gold medal, defeating Kevin Villela (Phoenix) and Weston Carico (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) in the final, 21-18, 21-11.

Chris Long (Long Beach, Calif.) and Robbie Page (Rochester, N.Y.) won the bronze medal, defeating Parker Kalmbach (Coto De Caza, Calif.) and Vaun Lennon (Westchester, Calif.) in the third-place match, 20-22, 21-16, 16-14.

In the women’s U21 division, Jace Pardon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Litara Kiel (Long Beach, Calif.) won the gold medal, defeating Betsi Metter (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Eve Ettinger (Santa Barbara, Calif.) in the final, 21-19, 12-21, 17-15.

Sisters Stephanie and Kristina Pellitteri (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) won the bronze medal.

The Beach HPC will give participants exposure to international style competition within five separate age divisions. The USAV Beach HP Championships is the marquee event for USA Beach Programs.

Teams competing in the Beach HPC will be representing USA Beach National Teams, USA Beach High Performance Teams, or affiliated USAV Regions. Region High Performance teams scheduled to participate are: Florida, Aloha, Intermountain, Chesapeake, Arizona, Lakeshore, Iowa, and Southern California.

The USAV Beach HPC is taking place on the south side of the Hermosa Beach Pier, adjacent to the Jose Cuervo Hermosa Beach Open, which will be on the north side.

Friday, July 20: U15 and U17 Pool Play Round 2, U19 Pool Play Round, Jose Cuervo Qualifier
Saturday, July 21: U15 and U17 Playoffs and Finals, U19 Pool Play Round 2, U26 Pool Play, Jose Cuervo Main Draw
Sunday, July 22: U19 and U26 Playoffs and Finals, Jose Cuervo Main Draw and Finals
