COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 13, 2012) –The U.S. Women's Sitting Volleyball Team split matches on Friday in exhibition play, defeating Ukraine and falling to China.

Team USA, ranked second in the world along with No. 1 ranked China and No. 3 ranked Ukraine is partaking in three days of double headers in Shanghai to prepare for the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

In its first match of the day the U.S. defeated Ukraine, 26-28, 25-16, 25-12, 25-12. With a highly contested first set Team USA regained composure and controlled the rest of the match with complete dominance.

Katie Holloway (Lake Stevens, Wash./UCO Resident Athlete) was the lead scorer, contributing 22 points on 15 kills, three blocks and four service aces.

Without time to rest the U.S. then took on the heavy hitters from China losing in three sets, 25-16, 25-20, 27-25.

Holloway again charted a high-scoring game with 20 points off of 16 kills, two blocks and two service aces

"These are the tough matches that we need to prepare for, for the Paralympics,” Head Coach Bill Hamiter said about the China match. “We are being pushed to execute at a high consistent level. We are doing some wonderful things against the world's best team but we have to pass more efficiently against their tough serving.”

Team USA will wrap up play Saturday against China at 11 a.m. (8 p.m. PST) and Ukraine at 3 p.m. (12 p.m. PST).
