GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 21, 2012) – Reigning U.S. Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh (San Jose, Calif.), Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) will compete at the Winter Beach Bash, an exhibition on Feb. 25 in Grand Rapids, Mich., at The DeltaPlex Arena (2500 Turner Ave, Grand Rapids, MI 49544).

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and play will begin at 7 p.m.

Joining the evening will be Stevo VanderWerp of Grand Haven, Mich., a top-ranked U.S. men’s under-26 beach player who is training to try to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Other beach players who will participate are Kathryn Babcock (Kalamazoo, Mich.), a Forest Hills Central and Western Michigan University graduate; Brooke Hanson (Woodland Hills, Calif.), a member of the third-ranked U.S. women’s team; Christal Engle (Puyallup, Wash.), a four-time AVCA collegiate All-American and now rising beach star; and Evan Engle (Cedarville, Mich.), who was born in the Upper Peninsula and played basketball at Lake Superior State before turning his attention to the beach.

The night will consist of players competing in a round-robin, two-on-two competition, as well as autographs, crowd games, giveaways and more.

Tickets are on sale now at the DeltaPlex box office or at WinterBeachBash.com for $20 general admission and $50 for VIP. Discounted rates are offered for AAU or USA Volleyball members and for teams.

The players will all be arriving on Thursday, Feb.23 and many appearances and events are planned in addition to the main event.

There will be an indoor volleyball clinic offered at the MVP Fieldhouse on Friday, Feb. 24 for players between the ages of 10-18 years old. Space is limited at the clinic so registration is encouraged. The clinic fee is $100 and includes 1.5 hours of teaching, a T-shirt, an autographed volleyball and a ticket to the main event on Saturday.

In addition to the Saturday tournament and volleyball clinic, the Olympians will visit local volleyball clubs, attend a practice with Grand Valley State University men’s club team and make hospital visits.
