May-Treanor Signs Deal with Spalding

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 9, 2012) – Spalding, a division of Russell Brands, LLC, has announced that Misty May-Treanor (Santa Monica, Calif.), a two-time Olympic gold medalist, has entered into a long-term marketing, licensing and promotional agreement with the brand.

May-Treanor’s relationship with Spalding includes appearances, advertising, volleyball clinics, product development collaboration and signature products.

Pro beach player and 2008 Olympic gold medalist Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Karch Kiraly (San Clemente, Calif.), a three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Women’s National Team coach, are also Spalding ambassadors.

Spalding also serves as USA Volleyball’s “Official Net System Supplier for Indoor and Beach Volleyball” and has served as the official ball for the USAV Beach Junior Tour.

“I learned to play and compete in beach volleyball on the sands of Santa Monica,” May-Treanor said. “The only ball on the beach then was the Spalding® Top-Flite 18 Panel. At this point in my career, to be involved with the company that helped launch my volleyball journey and that of so many other players is awesome.”

Spalding will be working with May-Treanor to further develop her M2 Clinic program, which works to promote indoor and outdoor volleyball for boys and girls across the country.  Additionally, May-Treanor will assist Spalding in development of the brand’s best-in-class outdoor net and net system category and provide design insight on the colors and styles of the brand’s indoor volleyball collection.

May-Treanor has also signed a deal with Nestle Prepared Foods Company and will be sharing how she and her husband, professional baseball player Matt Treanor, reconnect over STOUFFER'S® Sautes for Two™ to inspire couples across the country to do the same.
