COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 13, 2012) – Just days after winning beach volleyball medals at the 2012 Olympic Games, Kerri Walsh, Jen Kessy and April Ross are already back on the sand and will compete on Wednesday at the Mazury Orlen Grand Slam in Stare Jablonki, Poland.

The event is part of the 2012 FIVB SWATCH World Tour.

Walsh (San Jose, Calif.) and longtime partner Misty May Treanor (Santa Monica, Calif.) won their third consecutive Olympic gold medal in London in a fitting conclusion to a historic partnership.

In Poland, Walsh will pair up with Nicole Branagh (Orinda, Calif.). The duo had enough FIVB ranking points to earn automatic entry to the main draw and are slated to begin play on Wednesday.

Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) walked away from their Olympic debut with the silver medal after falling to May-Treanor and Walsh in the championship match. Kessy and Ross are also set to begin main draw play on Wednesday.

Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Ind.) and Brooke Hanson (Ventura, Calif.), seeded No. 1 in qualifying, will have to earn their spot in the main draw. On Tuesday, they will face Latvia’s No. 32-seeded Monta Strazdina and Alise Pastare.

If they win their first-round match, Fendrick and Hanson will face either Latvia’s No. 17-seeded team of Inguna Minusa and Inga Ilkauniece or Austria’s 16th-seeded team of Valeri Teufl and Elisabeth Klopf.

Angie Akers (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Brittany Hochevar (Fowler, Colo.), seeded No. 7 in qualifying, will face Poland’s Sylwia Pilarek and Aneta Gancarczyk (No. 26) in the first round of single elimination.

If they win their first-round match, Akers and Hochevar will face either face either the Netherlands’ Jolien Sinnema and Marloes Wesselink (No. 10) or Finland’s 23-seeded Rikka Lehtonen and Taru Lahti.

The men’s event is slated to start on Wednesday with country quota matches. Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Calif.) and Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) along with fellow Olympic participants Jake Gibb (Bountiful, Utah) and Sean Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.) are slated to compete in Thursday’s main draw.

Also slated to compete in Poland are Matt Fuerbringer (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Nick Lucena (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) along with Bradley Keenan (Westminster, Calif.) and John Mayer (Thousand Oaks, Calif.).
