COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 23, 2012) – Three U.S. men’s beach volleyball teams are in Myslowice, Poland this week for the Silesia Open,  a single-gender event on the 2012 FIVB SWATCH World Tour.

Coming off a silver medal finish in Brazil, Matt Fuerbringer (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Nick Lucena (Santa Barbara, Calif.) will continue their battle for a U.S. Olympic qualifying spot with Jake Gibb (Bountiful, Utah) and Sean Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.).

Casey Jennings (Las Vegas, Nev.) will play with Billy Strickland (Malibu, Calif.) in the qualifying bracket, which begins on Wednesday (April 25). The main draw will start on Thursday (April 26). The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday with the medal matches on Sunday.

Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) are the event’s defending champions.

Three U.S. women’s beach teams will play the same schedule at the Olympic Bay Sanya Open in China.

Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Brooke Hanson (Woodland Hills, Calif.) will be looking to improve on their 17th-place showing in Brazil. Angie Akers (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Brittany Hochevar (Fowler, Colo.), who made it into the Brazil main draw thanks to a “lucky loser” drawing are also hoping for a better result in China.

The U.S. team of Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.) and Heather Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.) will play in the qualifying bracket, which will be played Wednesday, April 25.
