COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 12, 2012) – Three more players from the USA Volleyball (USAV) Beach High Performance (HP) pipeline have signed to play for NCAA Division I collegiate sand volleyball programs.

Nine other Beach HP players signed letters of intent last fall.

Ashley Prince (Allen, Texas/Lovejoy High School) and Emily Podschweit (Parker, Colo./Chaparral High School) have signed to play for coach Rita Crockett at Florida International in Miami.

Karlee Kavanaugh (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak High School) has signed with Georgia State in Atlanta and coach Tami Audia.

“We are thrilled to see three more of our Beach HP athletes signing sand scholarships,” said Ali Wood Lamberson, director of beach programs for USAV. “We are honored that the top universities are recognizing that USAV High Performance Programs represent the highest level of training available in the United States. The level of competition in NCAA sand volleyball is certain to continue to rise, providing a continuation of the USAV Beach pipeline.”

All three players have participated on USA Volleyball beach high performance teams the past two years including taking part in the 2010 Bi-Lateral Presidential Exchange, which was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ SportsUnited Office.

Prince also placed fifth at the 2011 USAV Beach High Performance Championships and second at the 2011 USAV Beach Junior Tour Championships in Chicago.
