COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 8, 2012) – Two U.S. team bowed out of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour event in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic on Saturday.

The U.S. women’s team of Kaitlin Sather (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Jessica Gysin (Los Gatos, Calif.) won its final pool play match, 21-7, 21-5 over the Dominican-1 team of Deborah Constanzo and Karla Montilla.

The U.S. advanced to the quarterfinals, where it fell to Mexico’s Vanessa Virgen and Martha Revuelta, 21-14, 21-16 in 30 minutes. The pair finished the tournament in fifth place.

The U.S. team of Evan Engle and Stafford Slick suffered its first loss of the double-elimination men’s tournament on Saturday to Luis Adames and German Recio of Dominican Republic, 21-19, 21-19 in 42 minutes.

Engle and Slick fell to the consolation bracket, where they lost to Canada’s Joshua Binstock and Martin Reader, 21-17, 21-17 in 42 minutes. Engle and Slick finished the tournament in sixth place.
