COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 17, 2011) – U.S. beach volleyball teams were undefeated after the first day of play at the NORCECA Beach Circuit event on Rosarita Beach in Baja, Mexico.

The U.S. men’s team of Andy McGuire (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Avery Drost (Hawthorne, Calif.) won two matches on Friday, first defeating David Thomas and Fabien Whitfield of Trinidad & Tobago, 24-22, 21-10. Then they defeated Jaime and Armando Lopez of Mexico 3, 21-14, 21-16.

The U.S. women’s team of Kelly Schumacher (Miami Beach, Fla.) and Angela Bryan (Covina, Calif.) also won two matches on Friday. First the U.S. pair defeated Canada’s Becky Billings and Kristina Vlcek, 21-11, 21-19. Then Schumacher and Bryan topped Trinidad and Tobago's Ayana Dyette and Elki Phillip, 21-10, 21-9.

Play continues on Saturday and Sunday.
