COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 22, 2011) – The USA Volleyball Beach Department held its Second Annual Beach CAP (BCAP) Cadre Summit on Nov. 19-20 at their offices in Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Beach cadre members are coaches who will teach people who wish to become certified beach volleyball coaches through USAV’s Beach Coaching Accreditation Program (BCAP).

Coaches who attended were Dane Selznick, Anna Collier, Jeff Conover, Tyra Turner, Ashley Ivy and Jon Aharoni along with USAV staff involved in the BCAP program.

John Crawley of the U.S. Olympic Committee made a presentation on International Competitive Analysis and Long Term Athlete Development.

The cadre members are working to update current BCAP I course materials and prepare curricula for introduction of BCAP Level II (debut late 2012) and BCAP Level III (TBD.)

“I’ve been involved with beach coaching for the past 20 years and this past weekend with the cadre I learned and shared more information than I have in those previous 20 years,” USC sand volleyball coach Anna Collier said.

“We have an exceptional cadre of experienced beach coaches spanning the camp and club level, through NCAA sand, to international and Olympic coaching,” said Ali Wood Lamberson, USA Volleyball director of beach programs. “This level of fruitful discussion and cohesive planning is helping us create an effective and stimulating beach coaching course.”
