Houston Baptist's Courtney Whittleman Looks to Impress National Team Coaches

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 25, 2011) – Making the jump from a college-level court to the U.S. Women’s National Team tryouts can be frightening and stressful, but for Houston Baptist University player Courtney Whittleman, her exceptional coaching staff, family support and high quality of training has prepared her for the weekend.

“Houston Baptist transitioned from NAIA to NCAA Division I and is small, maybe 3,000 people, but it has a great volleyball program,” Whittleman said. “The athletic programs in the school are always growing and focusing on recruiting is important.”

For athletes, the Olympic stage is as big as they come and for volleyball players, making the National Team is a dream only the elite get to fulfill. The opportunity to shine in front of the Olympic coaching staff comes from hours of hard work and dedication paired with incredible high school and college preparation from coaches.
